2021年5月　浄土真宗の教えの三本柱�@

他力本願（たりきほんがん）

　「他力本願」という言葉は、浄土真宗において、み教えの根幹に関わる最も重要な言葉です。浄土真宗の宗祖である親鸞聖人がいわれた「他力」とは、自然や社会の恩恵のことではなく、もちろん他人の力をあてにすることでもありません。また、世間一般でいう、人間関係のうえでの自らの力や、他の力という意味でもありません。
「他力」とは、そのいずれをも超えた、広大無辺な阿弥陀如来の力を表す言葉です。
「本願」とは、私たちの欲望を満たすような願いをいうのではありません。
阿弥陀如来の根本の願いとして「あらゆる人々に、南無阿弥陀仏を信じさせ、称えさせて、浄土に往生せしめよう」と誓われた願いのことです。
この本願のとおりに私たちを浄土に往生させ、仏に成らしめようとするはたらきを「本願力」といい、「他力」といいます。
私たち念仏者は、このような如来の本願のはたらきによる救いを、「他力本願」という言葉で聞き喜んできたのです。ここにはじめて、自らの本当の姿に気づかされ、いまのいのちの尊さと意義が明らかに知らされるのであり、人生を力強く生き抜いていくことができます。

“Tariki Hongan”(Salvation by faith in Amida Buddha)

“Tariki Hongan” is the most important phrase in Jodo Shinshu.
What Shinran Shonin, the founder of Jodo Shinshu meant by “Tariki” (outer power) does not mean the benefit from the nature or the society, nor does it mean to depend on other people.
It also does not mean the others' power in ordinary human relationships.
“Tariki” means the boundless power of Amida Buddha.
Primal Vow does not refer to fulfilling our desires.
It refers to Amida Buddha's pledge to guide all people to be reborn in the Land of Amida Buddha by chanting Namo Amidabutsu.
The working of Hongan is called “Honganryoku” as well as “Tariki”.
The salvation by Buddha's primal vow is called “Tariki Hongan”.
