源空三五の よはひにて 無常のことわり さとりつつ

厭離の素懐を あらわして 菩提のみちにぞ いらしめし　（高僧和讃）

この度は、令和2年7月豪雨にてお亡くなりになられた方々に哀悼の意を表し、ご遺族様にはお悔やみを申し上げます。また、怪我をされた方々、被災された方々にはお見舞を申し、早期のご回復、復興を念じ上げます。

親鸞聖人のお師匠さん、法然坊(ほうねんぼう)源空(げんくう)、法然聖人が「三五のよはひ」15歳の時に「無常」、常に移り変わっていく不安定な世の中であることに目ざめ、厭(いと)うべき、逃れるべき、離れるべき、超えるべきこの世であることを、かねてからの願いとあらわし仏門に入られました。

そのきっかけとなったのは、法然さま9歳の時に、武士であった父親が殺害される悲劇を目の当たりにしたことです。亡くなる直前に父親は「お前も武士の子供、私が死んだら敵を恨み、かたきを取ろうと思うだろうが、恨みに恨みを重ねても何の解決にもならない。だから愛と憎しみを超えていく仏門に入り、私を偲んで仏さまの教えを大切にする道を歩んでほしい」と遺言されたと伝えられております。それに従って、15歳の時に比叡山へ登り厳しい仏道修行を通じて、「専修(せんじゅ)念仏(ねんぶつ)」お念仏を称えることを大事に生きたお方なのです。

コロナ禍に加えての自然災害。地球全体が人間にとって、住みにくくなりつつあるのかもしれません。利益や効率、便利さを追い求め過ぎている人間の我欲の増大を反省し、生き方を見直すことが必要なのではないでしょうか。どのように生きていくのが人間としてふさわしいのかを、仏の道から聞かせていただきましょう。

All things are in flux and nothing is permanent.It means that everything constantly changes. You never know what will happen next in your life.

I wish to express my deepest sympathy to people passed away by a heavy rain of July, 2020 and wish to express my deepest sympathy to bereaved.

Honen entered Buddhism when he was 15 years old.He witnessed his Samurai father killed by the opposing force when he was 9 years old. Before his father died, he said "You are a son of Samurai. You might want to hate the enemy and seek revenge.But revenge upon revenge solve nothing. Go beyond love and hate and live a life of a Buddhist monk for me."

He followed his father's will and joined Hieizan Enryaku Temple when he was 15 years old to begin his austere training.At the end of Heian Era, Buddhism had become a religion for the aristocrats and lost the power to save the masses who were troubled by civil war and famine.

Honen questioned the way Buddhism was at the time and created a nembutsu "Namuamidabutsu" that heals and saves all people who recite it intently. In 1175, when Honen was 43 years old, he left Hieizan and opened Jodoshu in Kyoto to save the masses.

Natural disasters in addition to Covid 19 crisis. Earth as a whole is perhaps becoming a harder place to live for human beings.Human beings have been seeking profit, efficiency, and convenience with increasing greed. It is time to reflect on how to live. Let us learn how best to live from Buddhism.
