何にでも勝ち負け　優劣をつけて苦しむ　勝ち負け優劣なき歩み

私たちの日々の生活の中で、他人と比べて「勝った！」「負けた…」と心の中で一喜一憂していることがあります。他の人と比べて生きる人生は常に不安の中にあります。
昨年、解散したSMAPの歌に『世界に一つだけの花』があります。歌詞には

花屋の店先に並んだ　いろんな花を見ていた
人それぞれ好みはあるけど　どれもみんな綺麗だね
この中で誰が一番だなんて　争うこともしないで
バケツの中誇らしげに　シャンと胸を張っている
それなのに僕ら人間は　どうしてこうも比べたがる？
一人ひとり違うのにその中で　一番になりたがる？
そうさ僕らは　世界に一つだけの花　一人ひとり違う種を持つ
その花を咲かせることだけに　一生懸命になればいい

『仏説阿弥陀経』にはお浄土は「池中蓮華　大如車輪　青色青光　黄色黄光　赤色赤光　白色白光　微妙香潔」の世界であると出てきます。その意味は「池の中には車輪のように大きな蓮の華があって、青い花は青い光を、黄色い花は黄色い光を、赤い花は赤い光を、白い花は白い光を放ち、いずれも美しく、その香りは気高く清らかである」ということです。私たちは一人ひとり生まれた場所や日にち・性別・性格・育った環境・考え方・顔などが異なります。誰一人として自分と全く同じ人はいません。この世ではその時代における考え方や価値観が変化し、すべての人が光輝くことのできる世界の実現には至っていません。自分中心に生き、他の人と比べて何にでも勝ち負けや優劣をつけながら不安と苦しみの人生を生きています。しかしそんな私たち一人ひとりが輝き、勝ち負けがなく優劣のない世界がお浄土です。他の人と比べる人生をやめたら新しい人生が始まります。
『世界に一つだけの花』は「ナンバーワンにならなくてもいい　もともと特別なオンリーワン」という歌詞から始まります。勝ち負けや優劣のない世界であるお浄土への道をいま私たちはお念仏を申しながら歩んでいます。

Stop comparing yourself to others.

In our lives, we sometimes shout in our minds "I won!" or "I lost"by comparing ourselves to others. When we compare ourselves with others, we are always feeling troubled.
There is a song called "The only flower in the world", a song by SMAP who broke up last year.

I was looking at various flowers in front of a florist.
We all have different tastes, but each and everyone was beautiful.
Nobody quarreled and said I am the best
Proudly looking up in the buckets.
Why do we humans need to compare ourselves so much?
We are each of us different and yet we want to be the best.
Each of us is the only flower in the world
Each of us with a different seed.
The only thing we need to do is to make that flower blossom.

Again, Shariputra, in the land Sukhavati there are lakes of the seven gems, in which is filled water with the eight meritorious qualities. The lake-bases are strewn with golden sand, and the stairs of the four sides are made of gold, silver, beryl, and crystal. On land there are stories and galleries adorned with gold,silver, beryl, crystal, white coral, red pearl and diamond [lit. agate]. The lotus-flowers in the lakes, large as chariot wheels, are blue-colored with blue splendor, yellow-colored with yellow splendor, red-colored with red splendor, white-colored with white splendor, and (they are all) the most exquisite and purely fragrant. Shariputra, the land Sukhavati is arrayed with such good qualities and adornments.Each of us were born with different place of birth, dates, sexes and personalities, raised in different environments, think differently with different faces.There is not another person who is exactly the same as you.In this world, our way of thinking and values change with time and we have not yet managed to create the world to enable everyone to shine.We live self centeredly thinking we are winning or losing compare to others resulting in anxious life of suffering.Pure Land is a place where each of us can shine, where there is no winning or losing. When you stop comparing yourself to others, a new life begins.
The only flower in the world tells us that it is not necessary to become number one, because each of us are already the special only one.As we recite nembutsu, we are walking towards Pure Land where there is no winning and losing.
