恵信尼さま�C 「みあとを慕って」

恵信尼さまのお手紙には、親鸞聖人とのお出会いの中でのことが多く語られています。そこには、越後、関東、京都に帰られてからの日々、ご家族としての日暮らしを感じることができます。
いのちを授かる中で語り合われたお言葉、成長する子供たちを愛おしく見守られた日々。晩年、孫の世話に越後に向かわれてからの日暮らし。孫の成長に喜びを感じながらも、京都で過ごされる親鸞聖人のことも、子供や孫のことも案じられる。
そのような中、越後が飢饉であった時には、ご自身の衣服も食料にかえられて、大勢の生活を支えておられた様子がうかがえます。当時から、家族と家族以外の人を分け隔てなく、懸命に尽くされていたお姿は現在までの仏教婦人会活動となっています。
1891（明治24）年10月28日、美濃大野郡尾村（現・岐阜県本巣市）を震源としたマグニチュード8.0という濃尾(のうび)大地震がありました。その時、岐阜日日新聞11月8日号は、本願寺派では「同宗他宗の差別なく一般の救助」をしており、岐阜市の西別院では、本山から送られてきた米を使って11月4日から施米(せまい)を始めたところ、6日までに一万三千人に施与(せよ)した、と報道しています。
また、当時の大谷枝子(しげこ)お裏方は包帯用木綿三百反を送られ、大野郡古橋村に出張していた日赤仮病院が11月20日に受け取られたことが記されています。今、「御同朋の社会をめざす運動」（実践運動）が推進されていますが「自他共に心豊かに生きることのできる社会の実現に貢献する」お心を恵信尼さまのお手紙にも聞かせていただきましょう。

In Eshinni's letters, she wrote many memories of Shinran.We can get a feel for their family lives after they have moved to Echigo, Kanto and Kyoto.
Their conversations, they way they lovingly watched the children grow.Her life, once she has moved to Echigo to look after her grandchildren.She rejoiced in watching her grandchildren grow, but she was always anxious for Shinran, children and grandchildren in Kyoto.
When there was a famine in Echigo, Eshinni exchanged her clothing for food to support many lives.The way Eshinni took care of family and non families alike, has been passed on to the activities of today's Buddhist Women's Association.Let us learn the importance of contributing to the society in order for everyone to live well from Eshinni letters.
On 28 October, 1892, a large earthquake called Noubi with magnitude 8.0 occurred in Gifu Prefecture Motosu City.According to the historical records, Hongwanji helped everyone in the community, and in Nishi Branch Temple in Gifu Prefecture, they distributed the rice from Hongwanji to the affected people from 4 November and by 6 November, they have helped 13,000 people.
Also, Ohtani Shigeko, the wife of Chief Priest of Hongwanji sent bandage cotton to Japanese Red Cross Medical Center in Furuhashi.
