報恩講によせて　〜ご恩に気づく秋の風〜

夏の名残を感じつつも、風鈴の音が遠ざかり、虫の声が耳をくすぐる9月。日暮れが早まり、季節の移ろいが私たちの心にも静かな気づきをもたらします。この時期は「報恩講」をお勤めする寺院が多くなっていきます。

報恩講とは、浄土真宗の宗祖、親鸞聖人のご恩に報いる法要です。しかしその意味は、ただ聖人に感謝するだけに留まりません。報恩とは、「いただいた恩に気づき、報いる心」のはじまりです。

聖人は、「煩悩具足の凡夫」である私たちに、阿弥陀如来の本願に身をゆだねる道を示してくださいました。その教えは、困難な日々の中にも「あなたはすでに救われている」という深い安心を与えてくれます。

秋は、収穫の時であると同時に、感謝の季節でもあります。私たちが日々生きるうえで、目に見える恩も、目には映らぬ恩も、無数にあります。それは、家族の支えを受け、同じ信仰を大事にする人の姿、そして、これまでの先人の歩みにまで及ぶものです。

報恩講は、その一つひとつに心を向ける時、南無阿弥陀仏のはたらきに照らされ、ご恩に気づく目を養い、感謝の念を育てていただけます。

聖人のご恩を聞き受ける者として、他の人の痛みや悲しみにも心を寄せ、できるだけ穏やかで優しく、柔らかな行動を心掛けるような、そんな報恩の秋でありますように

Becoming aware of "Go-on" in the Autumn breeze

In September, still feeling the remnants of the summer, as the sound of wind chimes pass, we begin to hear the serenading by insects. As the sun sets earlier, the change of the season brings us a quiet time of reflection. At this time, many of the temples promote Hoonko Ceremony. Hoonko is a ceremony we conduct to show our gratitude to Amida Buddha and Shinran Shonin(1173 to 1262) around the time of Shinran's death anniversary. Hoon means to become aware of the Go-on granted to us and to respond to it. Shinran Shonin has shown us ordinary people how to surrender to Amida Buddha's primal vow. In our daily struggles, the Teaching of Amida Buddha gives us a deep sense of relief that "We are already saved." Autumn is the time of harvest and at the same time, the time of gratitude. As we live our daily lives, we receive countless "On". That can be the support from our family, the fellow Buddhists, and our ancestors who should not be forgotten.. Hoonko Ceremony is the time to reflect on each and every On, be shone by Amida Buddha and to deepen our sense of gratitude.
