平成から令和へ、節目の年を振り返る

早いもので、元号が平成から令和に変わった節目の年である本年も、いよいよ終わりをむかえようとしております。皆さまも今年一年、色々な出来事があったかと思います。嬉しいこと、悲しいこと、楽しいこと、苦しいこともあったでしょう。色々な出来事の中で、良いことだけは過ぎないでいてほしい…。そんなに都合良くはいきません。

福住寺より配布しております、来年度法語カレンダーの中に「苦があるから 楽がある、 死を知って 生にきづく」というお言葉があります。悪いことがなければ良いことも『良い』と感じられないのではないでしょうか。良いことだけでは嬉しいことも楽しいことも当たり前になってしまい、ますます心が満たされなくなってしまいます。これも私達の煩悩の一つです。時には嬉しく楽しいことも、時には悲しく苦しいこともあります。出来事の一つ一つが仏様のはげましであるといただき、皆さまと共々に除夜の鐘をつきながら一年を振り返り、新たな年を迎えられるご縁に感謝し、ご恩報謝の毎日を歩ませていただきましょう。

Looking back on the year of new era

Time goes quickly. This year, that saw the change of era from Heisei to Reiwa is almost over.
I think for all of you, there were many life events this year.
You would have had happy, sad, fun, and difficult experiences.
Of all the events, we hope that only good things remain.
Life unfortunately does not work like that.
In the Fukujuji Temple Calendar we have sent to you, there is a saying
"The ease exists because of the hard. Once you know death, you become aware of life."

Unless there are 'bad' things, we are not aware of what is good.
If we only had good things in life, we would take all joyful and fun things fore granted and be unsatisfied.
This is one of the Bonno* we have.
*Bonno: Illusin. Those mental functions which disturb the mind.

In life, there are pleasant and happy things as well as sad and difficult things.
Let us take each thing as an encouragement from Buddha.
Let us strike the gong of Joya and reflect on the year and be thankful for being able to receive the new year.
