Buddhism in Japan

Let us talk about Buddhism. There are many different religions in the world. If I was to define religion, I would say that religion is something that will teach us how to live in peace, to seek happiness, that teaches us the meaning of life and how we should live. All religions aim to relieve the human heart, but their philosophies differ.
Especially Buddhism has fundamentally different characteristics from all the other religions. We can roughly divide the other religions into two groups.
One is "the religion of prayers". Those advocate faith as meansof fulfilling our desires in this world such as to heal diseases or tomake money belong to this group.
The other is "the religion of obedience". They believe that thereis an all mighty god, the only truth is expressed by their god's words, and to obey them is their faith. Monotheism such as Islam, Judaism, andChristianity belong to this group. In these religions, god is justice andtheir faith is to worship and to obey the commandments.
Buddhism's teachings belong to neither of these groups. First of all, theunderstanding of the truth itself is completely different from the otherreligions.
In religions such as Christianity, the truth is only shown by God. In Buddhism, truth is not told as a message from God or by special power.
Sakyamuni (BC? 565-BC486?) only revealed the truth as it is. The truth in Buddhism does not change over time or by acquisition of new knowledge. It is universal truth.
Whereas the other religions have heteronomous system that seeks salvationin Heaven after death by the power of Almighty God, Buddhism is an autonomousreligion of Enlightenment that encourages individuals to know the truth,to realize how they are lost, and to awaken the true self.
There is a very realistic characteristic in Buddhism. What Buddhism focuses on are, how we can release ourselves from the reality of the present hardship and how not to get involved in meaningless things.
For example, Buddhism does not talk about "the creation" likehow the world was created.
It is always focused on how a living thing can live a peaceful and fulfilledlife and another characteristic is that it does not focus on "God".
Buddhism has these religious characteristics. Obviously, Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji Denomination also has these Buddhism basics as its base.
Buddhism as taught by Sakyamuni around 2500 years ago had the teachings compiled by his disciples and the Buddhism has spread to date through these teachings.
